Sapim spoke washer. Spoke washers help to adjust the spoke bend better to the hub. The usage of spoke washers is recommended on steel flange hubs. Fits on 2,3mm(13g) and 2,0mm(14g) spokes. For 12g spokes use our 12g spoke washers.

 

Dimensions: 4.8mm outer diameter, 2.5mm inner diameter, 0.5mm thick brass

 

Correct hub hole size:

Ideal hub hole diameter equals spoke thread diameter + 0.1 mm (eg. spoke thread on 14g/2mm measures thread 2.25 mm + 0.1 = 2.35 mm)

 

When to consider spoke washers:

Flanges which are too thin and / or hub holes which are too large in diameter in which case the spoke angle of 95° could increase to 120°. Correctly mounted spokes do not elongate. However, an incorrect hub hole can cause the bending angle to enlarge (elongation of the bend up to +1.5 mm per spoke) and buckle wheels.

Oversized flange holes cause extra pressure on the spoke heads. The result is that the heads pop off. Use of spoke washers will significantly reduce the pressure on the spoke head.

 

There are two kinds of spoke washers:
 1.  Nipple washers increase the strength of the rim and reduce the friction between nipple and rim.
 - Oval washers increase the strength of the rim
 - HM washers reduce the friction between nipple and rim
 - MG washers increase the strength of the rim and reduce the friction between rim and nipple.
 - Round washers increase the strength of the rim.
