Sapim MG nipple washer

The MG washer was designed by Sapim. The MG washer is CNC machined and not pressed like all other nipple washers. It is almost 2 mm high and its V shape ensures a perfect match with many nipple shapes.

 

The advantages of the MG washer are numerous.

 

Carbon rims: 

Thin-walled plain drilled non eyeleted rims: The washer increases the contact area between nipple and rim considerably.

 

Low Friction: There is a reduction in friction when used with a Polyax nipple head due to the adapted surface shape between the nut and the washer, resulting in easier control of high tensions. Higher tension can also be achieved without damaging the nut. The use of grease is strongly recommended.

 

Unsurpassed spoke/nipple line-up: The contact surface of the nipples is adapted to the shape of the washers and facilitates alignment, the nipple works like in a ball joint. The result is a perfect alignment of the spokes and nipples. The washer can move on the flat rim base, which will bring the nipples to a better centering in the rim.

 

When using the MG washer, the spoke length needs to be extended by 2 mm(ad 4mm to the ERD). Make sure the washer will sit flat in the bottom of the rim. If the rim bottom is round or very narrow (less than 7.5 mm flat bottom), use the Sapim HM washer instead of the MG.
